Ready for even more twisted tales of the sociopathic superheroes known as The Seven? Ahead of their season two premiere on September 4th, Amazon Studios announced that it has officially ordered a third season of The Boys. Like the first two seasons, Amazon is co-producing the series with Sony Pictures Television. Producers Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and showrunner Eric Kripke are once again on board. They shared the news on Thursday during The Boys Comic-Con@Home Panel.
Amazon also revealed that Emmy Award-winning Aisha Tyler will serve as host and executive producer of the official The Boys aftershow Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys. In each episode of Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys, members of the cast, creative team and other special guests will join Tyler as they dissect the events that unfold in each episode. The aftershow starts with the upcoming second season.

In a statement, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke said “The writers and I are hard at work in the (virtual) writer’s room and we’re sad to say, the world has given us way too much material. We hope to be shooting in early 2021, but that’s up to a microscopic virus. As if that wasn’t enough, we’re bringing you a Season 2 after show, Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys. Double entendre intended. Hosted by the incomparable Aisha Tyler and guest starring the cast and crew, it’s a deep dive into how we make this insane thing. Seriously, thanks to Sony, Amazon and the fans. We love making this show so much, and we’re thrilled we get to make more.”

The Boys is unlike any other superhero show on TV at the moment. The original comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson ran for six years and 72 issues, so there are definitely several seasons worth of stories to mine from the source material. Given how much fans have embraced the series, we think we will be seeing far more of this twisted superhero universe for many more years to come.
