He wasn’t Peter Quill’s real dad. But David Hasselhoff belongs to all of us. And now you can own a little piece of the Knight Rider and Baywatch star yourself. The Hoff has joined in on an auction selling many items from his long career. But if you want “Big Dave” from The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie you are going to have to pay some pretty big bucks.
Diligent Estate Auctions/LiveAuctioneers
On Saturday, January 23, Diligent Estate Auctions and LiveAuctioneers will put a 150-lot David Hasselhoff collection up for bid. The auction includes items, both big and small, affordable and not, from the actor’s decades-long career on stage and screen and in the recording booth. Fans will have a chance to nab costume pieces, awards, scripts, photos, unique possessions The Hoff has accumulated over the decades—like a signed surfboard—and even lunch with the actor himself. The collection also features a number of holy grail items for his most devoted—and deep pocketed—fans.
That includes his very own KITT car. It is “fully functional” and features the “brilliantly colorful illuminated dash and console” Knight Rider fans will recognize immediately. It was expected to go for a whopping $175,000-$300,000. However, the bidding has already reached $375,000. The iconic automobile is currently located in the UK. If it sells for a high enough price David Hasselhoff will personally deliver it. If, though, like most people on the planet, you can’t afford that, a kid’s KITT pedal car is expected to go somewhere between $400-$500.

Hasselhoff is also selling his 1961 Mercedes-Benz SL190. It has been in his family for over 40 years. Considering “Germans love David Hasselhoff,” it could easily exceed it’s $60,000-$90,000 listing price too.
The pièce de résistance, though, might be “ Big Dave,” the 14-foot bodysurfing replica used in 2004’s The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. The infamous prop has already reached the midpoint of it’s expected eye-popping $750,000-$1.5 million estimate. That’s a whole lot of money for a whole lot of The Hoff.

Although “very few” of the items “have the personal input and hands-on involvement of the star,” Hasselhoff has worked with the auction houses to promote the collection. That has included autographing many items. And a portion of the proceeds will be going directly to Hasselhoff’s favorite charities.
The auction begins at 12pm ET on January 23rd. Fans can bid both absentee or live online exclusively through LiveAuctioneers. We expect a certain guardian of the galaxy to have some stiff competition that day.
