We think it’s fair to say, Disney animation has the best collection of villains in pop culture. And the MCU has the best heroes. So it makes sense that someone with artistic talent would mash these two things up. Sure, we’ve seen princesses as Marvel heroines before, and classic Disney animated protagonists as Marvel heroes. But Marvel heroes as Disney baddies also unexpectedly go together like peanut butter and jelly. Now, an artist on Instagram by the name of Anastasia Ivanova is taking art to a new level with her gorgeous portraits of MCU heroes channeling some notorious Disney villains. And the results are stunning, as you can see.
Maleficent is one powerful and misunderstood witch. And So is Wanda Maximoff. So this mashup of the Scarlet Witch and Sleeping Beauty’s nemesis is truly bewitching. Just don’t forget to invite Wanda to your baby shower. She might take it personally and re-write reality on you.
Speaking of WandaVision, Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness mashed up with Tangled’s Mother Gothel is absolute perfection. So much so, that when Disney inevitably does a live-action Tangled, they really should give Kathryn a call.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier showed us that Sam Wilson was originally from New Orleans. So, mashing him up with New Orleans’ Voodoo King Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog makes perfect sense. But who are your “ friends on the other side,” Sam? Tony Stark? Natasha Romanov? (too soon?)
Loki, God of Mischief, is Hades, the mischievous God of the Underworld from Hercules. Another no-brainer.
In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Bucky Barnes had that sexy, messy, pirate hair. Then in Civil War, he had a little bit of scruff going on his face. So it makes sense to make him Peter Pan’s Captain Hook. The look is based on Hook from the series Once Upon a Time. We think Bucky would prefer the super-strong metal arm to the hook, but he still looks pretty fantastic.
And finally, due to their similar “skills, arrogance, and goatee,” Aladdin’s evil sorcerer Jafar makes for a pretty compelling match with Doctor Stephen Strange.
We truly love all this brilliant art combining Disney villains with MCU characters. For more amazing portraits, be sure to head on over to Anastasia Ivanova’s Instagram account.
